NAC And Condor Airline Opens Munich-Windhoek Route In Style

The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) on Thursday morning hosted an inaugural ceremony to welcome the first ever- Condor Airlines, Munich and Windhoek Route with the landing at 06h39 at the majestic Hosea Kutako International Airport.
Following the traditional shower by the Firefighting trucks at the Airport, Condor Airlines, flight number DE 2295, Captain Quirin Rall and his crew joined a fitting reception inside Terminal One and NAC’s Strategic Executive for Business Strategy Toska Sem welcomed the German airline’s third service per week.
“At NAC we are pleased to witness this great achievement in our airport operations and we thank Condor Airline for their continued trust in our abilities to provide safe and secure airport facilities. Today’s event not only signify a new viable route for NAC but speaks volumes in terms of the Harambee Prosperity Plan as many more sectors of our economy will benefit from this new route”, Sem said.
Sem added that NAC will continue to invest infrastructure development at all its eight airports to ensure that they remain true to their value of safe and secure airports in Namibia.
Captain Rall was equally delighted to fly to Windhoek and looking forward to many more improved and increased journeys down to Namibia.
“I’m very happy to be the first Condor Airline captain to fly the Munich-Windhoek route. We have had a very good flight and came with 240 passengers which represents South of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and even Northern Italy tourists for Namibia. We can only strive towards more numbers and more flights which can be beneficial for all parties involved”, Rall stated.
Condor Airline will operate the Munich-Windhoek Route every Thursday, arrivals at 07h00 and departures at 18h55 (Namibian winter time) until late October. This is in addition to the two weekly flights on Tuesday and Saturday from Windhoek to Frankfurt with the same Airline.
Namibia’s flagship airport, in 2015 Hosea Kutako handled 794 780 passengers and about 14 371 aircrafts movements and this numbers will expected to increase even with Qatar Airlines joining the fray in September m2016.
