PROFLIGHT ZAMBIA LAUNCHES LUSAKA-WINDHOEK SERVICE VIA LIVINGSTONE

12 Aug 2025

Air Connect Namibia is delighted to welcome Proflight Zambia’s new three-times-per-week scheduled service between Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (LUN) and Windhoek’s Hosea Kutako International Airport (WDH), via Livingstone’s Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport (LVI), commencing from 03 March 2026. This service will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays according to the following schedule:

  • Lusaka (LUN) – Windhoek (WDH): 08:30-11:35
  • Livingstone (LVI) – Windhoek (WDH): 09:55-11:35
  • Windhoek (WDH) – Livingstone (LVI): 12:20-13:55
  • Windhoek (WDH) – Lusaka (LUN): 12:20-15:20

The route is expected to enhance tourism, trade, and investment between Namibia and Zambia, two of the region’s most vibrant and growing economies. Zambia is one of Windhoek’s largest African origin-destination (OD) markets, with an estimated 10,000 two-way international passengers in 2024 - a 14% increase on 2023.

“We warmly welcome Proflight Zambia to Namibia and congratulate them on this timely and vital regional route,” said Bisey /Uirab, CEO of the Namibia Airports Company (NAC) and spokesperson for Air Connect Namibia. “The new route is more than a connection between two countries; it is a powerful catalyst for regional integration, economic synergy, and deeper ties between the people of Southern Africa.”

The service will cater to business and leisure travellers by offering seamless direct access between the three dynamic destinations, unlocking exciting new regional tourism circuits that showcase Southern Africa’s cultural richness and natural beauty. Lusaka and Windhoek are rapidly emerging as leading aviation hubs, fuelling greater connectivity and regional cooperation across the SADC region. In addition, Livingstone provides travellers with convenient access to the iconic Victoria Falls.

Beyond tourism, the route will act as a vital economic artery, stimulating bilateral trade and cross-border investment. By strengthening ties between two of the region’s most promising economic hubs, the route lays the foundation for deeper commercial partnerships and regional value chain development.

The route announcement aligns with the goals of Air Connect Namibia’s mandate and strategy - to increase air accessibility and promote the country as a regional aviation hub. The project is the result of ongoing collaboration between public and private stakeholders, including the NAC, the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB), Gondwana Collection, Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), Walvis Bay Corridor Group, Namibia Tourism Board (NTB), and the City of Windhoek.
