The Namibia Airports Company is a wholly State-owned company established in terms of the NAC Act (Act No. 25 of 1998) and governed by the State-owned Enterprises Act (Act No. 2 of 2006) and companies Act (Act No. 28 of 2004), to undertake the operation, management and control of certain aerodromes in Namibia, and to provide for incidental matters.

 

Suitably qualified and highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for the following position:

 

STRATEGIC EXECUTIVE: SBU 1: HOSEA KUTAKO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT 

1 X POSITION: HKIA: WINDHOEK JOB GRADE (E2)

 

The incumbent reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

 

Purpose of this position:

Oversee and ensure the overall efficient and effective leadership and management of the Airport.  Ensure that the Airport is operated at all times in compliance with national and international standards, guidelines, legal directives, approved controls manuals and standard operating procedures.

 

Job competencies include:

 

  • Airport operations and regulatory compliance;
  • Safety and security management;
  • Stakeholder engagement and customer care;
  • Maintenance and project management;
  • Commercial operations – revenue generation;
  • Business unit management and leadership; and
  • Major challenges and problem solving.

 

    Educational Requirements/Experience

 

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field from a recognized tertian institution is mandatory,
  • Postgraduate degree or NQF Level 9 Tertiary Qualification in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage;
  • At least Ten years (10) working experience of which 5 years’ experience should be at middle management level; and
  • Experience in the aviation industry is an added advantage.

 

     Personal Competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of airport operational management;
  • Good understanding of the local and international civil aviation regulations and law;
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders the development of operational systems and programs required under statutory laws and regulations, and subsequently lead their implementation;
  • Able to communicate and motivate teams as well as relate meaningfully to the team;
  • Ability to lead a professional team;
  • Solid writing and communication skills;
  • Strategically focused and have the ability to think and operate at a strategic level;
  • Analytical, decision making and problem solving skills;
  • Demonstrate aptitude for learning new technologies and industry specific tools;
  • Solid understanding of business management and company operations;
  • Ethical conduct and high integrity;
  • Ability to communicate technical aviation concepts to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Problem analysis and resolution ability at both strategic and functional level; and
  • Ability to train and develop employees and conduct user training.
  • Detailed understanding of all key legislations and regulations that affect the company.
