Description

The Namibia Airports Company is a wholly State-owned company established in terms of the NAC Act (Act No. 25 of 1998) and governed by the State-owned Enterprises Act (Act No. 2 of 2006) and companies Act (Act No. 28 of 2004), to undertake the operation, management and control of certain aerodromes in Namibia, and to provide for incidental matters.

Suitably qualified and highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for the following position:

STRATEGIC EXECUTIVE: SAFETY, SECURITY & ENVIRONMENT 

The incumbent reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

1X POSITION: WINDHOEK: JOB GRADE (E2)

 

Purpose of this Position:

The incumbent will provide strategic direction and leadership for the overall administration and coordination of safety, security and environment aspects for all airports.

Job Competencies include:

  • Knowledge of law enforcement policies and procedures, crime prevention, investigation, public safety training and operations,
  • Good understanding of aviation industry, aircraft and airport operations,
  • Knowledge of modern aviation practices, occupational hazards, safety techniques and safety precautions involved and required at the airports,
  • Ability to train, plan and implement the Incident Command System,
  • Knowledge and understanding of national and international aviation regulations governing security, safety, and environment precautions involved and required at the airports,
  • Strong decision-making ability, budget experience, proven performance and resource management skills,
  •  Ability to effectively lead, organize and direct the work of subordinates,
  • Demonstrate ability to design and implement short and long term objectives,
  • Ability to exercise strict confidence in handling sensitive information,
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,

 

Personal Competencies:

  • Knowledge and understanding of airport operational management;
  • Good understanding of the local and international civil aviation regulations and law related to safety, security and environment aspects;
  • Demonstrate the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders the development of operational systems and programs required under statutory laws and regulations, and subsequently lead their implementation;
  • Able to communicate and motivate teams as well as relate meaningfully to the team;
  • Ability to lead a professional team;
  • Solid writing and communication skills;
  • Strategically focused and have the ability to think and operate at a strategic level;
  • Analytical, decision making and problem solving skills;

 

Educational Requirements / Experience:

  • An undergraduate qualification in a relevant field is mandatory,
  • A postgraduate degree in Public or Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Security or Safety or other related field will be an added advantage,
  • Security, Military or Law enforcement and Safety background mandatory,
  • Minimum of 10 years mid to senior level experience in related field implementing Security and Safety programs,
  • Experience in the aviation industry is an added advantage.
