Leading Aviation Security Officer (C3)

The incumbent reports to the Chief Aviation Security Officer: Ondangwa Airport

Purpose of this position:

Responsible for the implementation of Airport Aviation security program for the Airport Aviation security function in compliance with national and international aviation security measures and regulations.


Job competencies include:

·      Implement and conduct aviation security functions in compliance with the airport security program;

·      Maintain and ensure compliance with the NCAA approved Airport Security Program;

·      Conduct security compliance evaluations for Airport offices and programmes within the designated area of responsibility; 

·      Work closely with Nampol to ensure that security procedures conform to the airport Security Programs;

·      Provide input in the establishment, maintenance and updating of security and contingency plans;

·      Provide input to the drafting of the security budget and ensure that security needs and requirements are catered for.


Educational Requirements/Experience:

·     Diploma in Aviation security, Police or military studies or any aviation industry qualification that is relevant to aviation security; 

·     At least 3 - 4 years’ experience in the area of aviation security;

·     Valid driver’s license.


Required Specialisation and Certification

·     Prescribed aviation security training courses

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the aviation industry, aircraft and airport operations.
  • Good knowledge of airport, aviation security rules, regulations, laws, law enforcement regulations and security principles, concepts and methodologies;
  • Understanding of national and international aviation security governing legislation;
  • Able to communicate and motivate teams as well as relate meaningfully to the team;
  • Good writing skills and communication skills;
  • Analytical, decisive and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to multi-task, handle work pressure and to meet deadlines;
  • Demonstrate aptitude for learning new technologies;
  • Good supervisory and administrative skills;
  • Ethical conduct and high integrity; 
  • Ability to train and conduct user training.
