Purpose of this Position:
 
The incumbent reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
 
To manage and provide strategic leadership to the internal audit function for the Namibia Airports Company. To ensure that the internal audit function provides an independent and objective assurance, consulting services, analysis and appraisals designed to add value and improve the company’s operations and effectiveness of governance, risk management and internal controls environment.
 
Job Competencies include:
  • Internal Audit management
  • Internal Audit Compliance and assurance framework
  • Human Resource Management and Administration
 
Personal Competencies:
  • Know applicable legislation and regulations affecting the company for example The NAC Act and amendments; 
  • Good understanding of the Civil Aviation Act, regulations & standards and recommended practices; 
  • A good understanding of risk management principles and techniques;
  • Sound knowledge of internal audit frameworks;
  • Knowledge of NAMCARs, NAMCAT-AH;
  • Ability to coordinate and manage a complex workload and work on tight deadlines; 
  • Able to write and present formal reports on highly complex internal audit matters;
  • Ability to identify sensitive issues and facilitate communication in a proactive manner;
  • Sound knowledge of the NAMCODE and King III;
  • Analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to observe and understand business processes; 
  • Ability to apply audit standards through practical application of risk and control concepts;
  • Strong organization, planning and follow up skills; 
  • Good communication and negotiation skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills with people at all levels;  and
  • Ethical conduct, high integrity and discretion when handling confidential information. 
 
Educational Requirements / Experience:
  • Honours Degree at NQF Level 8 in Auditing, Accounting, Finance or the Equivalent combination of the required education;
  • A Management / Leadership development training is highly recommended and a distinct advantage;
  • Must be a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors or similar professional body and must have completed articles;
  • A minimum of at least six (6) years internal audit, risk management work experience with at least three years supervisory experience;  and 
  • A relevant professional certification i.e. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is highly recommended.
