The incumbent reports to the Airport Manager: Ondangwa Airport and at Eros Airport to the Strategic Executive: SBU 2

 

Purpose of this position:

Plan, direct and administer the comprehensive security program for the Aviation security division and to ensure security compliance with national and international aviation security measures and regulations.

 

Job competencies include:

·     Implement, monitor and recommend updates to the airport security program and ensure compliance with all aviation security regulations;

·     Conduct Aviation security compliance evaluations for the Airport; 

·     Work closely with Nampol to ensure that security procedures conform to the national and International Aviation security;

·      Assists team members and other staff members to understand and interpret various policies and procedures related to the National civil aviation security programme and Airport Security Programs;

·      Must be able to plan emergencies and crisis management in line with the airport security Contingency plan in consultation with other security clusters;

·      Provide input to the drafting of the security budget and ensure that security needs and requirements are catered for;

·      Ensure and recommends amendments of the Airport Security Programme and Contingency plan.

 

Educational Requirements/Experience:

·     Diploma in Aviation security, Police or military studies or any aviation industry qualification that is relevant to aviation security. A Degree will be an added advantage; 

·      At least 6 - 9 years’ experience in the area of aviation security of which at least three (3) should be at a supervisory level;

·     Valid driver’s license.

 

Required Specialisation and Certification

·     Prescribed aviation security training courses

 

Personal Competencies:

  • Good understanding of the aviation industry, aircraft and airport operations;
  • Good knowledge of airport, aviation security rules, regulations, laws, law enforcement regulations and security principles, concepts and methodologies;
  • Understanding of national and international aviation security governing legislation;
  • Knowledge of modern aviation security techniques and security precautions required at the airport;
  • Able to communicate and motivate teams as well as relate meaningfully to the team;
  • Good writing skills and communication skills; 
  • Analytical, decisive and problem solving skills;
  • Ability to multi-task, handle work pressures and to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to train and guide subordinates to implement access control measures;
  • Demonstrate aptitude for learning new technologies;
  • Good supervisory, planning, organising and administrative skills;
  • Ethical conduct and high integrity; 
  • Ability to train and conduct user training.
