Namibia Airports Company airport tours are aimed at educating tour groups about the day to day operations of the airport. Tours will include an educational video screening, description of airport security regulations, brief visits to the terminal, various areas of airport operations, fire sections, runways and the numerous commercial / retail facilities located at the airports.
When conducting an airport tour, the following guidelines will apply:
Requesting a Tour
Groups requesting a tour will be required to complete an application form (Annexure A), available at all NAC airports. Reservations must be made at least two weeks in advance.
The minimum number of people per tour request is 10 and the maximum 30. Minimum age to accompany a tour group is 4 years.
When making a reservation, the following information is needed:
- name of the group;
- number of persons in the group;
- date and time the tour is wanted, with possible alternate date and times;
- name of airport to be visited
- name and phone number of the person requesting the tour;
- tour group category, e.g., pre-primary school;
- areas of interest (areas to be visited).
Tour Conducting
Tours will be conducted by Airport Duty Officers, in conjunction with the Offices of the Chief Fire Officer and the Media & Communications Officer. Tours will begin and end at the terminal entrances.
Tour Dates and Lengths
Tours will be conducted every Friday from 10h00 to 13h00 and length is approximately 60 minutes.
Security Briefing
A compulsory security briefing by a Fire Officer is provided prior to the beginning of every tour.
Security/ Safety Measures
All visitors are required to wear reflector jackets and must pass through an airport type security scanning device. Smoking and carrying of firearms and sharp objects will be allowed on the premises. Cellphones on the airside will be prohibited.
Indemnity Form
An indemnity form must be signed by all tour group participants and/or guardians
Airside Access
Accessible to tour groups and refers to all areas of the terminal that lie beyond security search, including the travel value and duty free shops, departure lounge, boarding gates, customs hall, aircraft ramp, taxiways and runways.
Parking
Complimentary parking will be provided for tour groups.
Corporate Gifts
- tour groups kids to be provided with corporate gifts at the end of each tour.
- E.g. children be given balloons, pens, caps etc. Adults be given pens and caps
- For educational tours (high school / university and colleges) - information brochures, caps
Tour Plans / Programmes
- Custom made to suit needs of each tour group
- time spent at each area of interest to be indicated
- duty officer to provide with approval of tours
Visitors with Disabilities
Ramp access is available for the physically challenged. Tour visitors in wheelchairs must be accompanied by someone who will push them. A signer will be added to tours to assist hearing impaired visitors provided that two weeks' notice is given. Special tours for visually impaired visitors can also be arranged with two weeks' notice.
Recording/Filming Devices
Photographs may be taken in specified areas such as inside aircraft or inside terminal. No video cameras, tape recorders or any other kind of electronic recording device is permitted in security areas. Group photo’s will be taken by the tour guide and sent to tour group leader.
